Composition and action

The composition of the hygienic lotion of the epi-otik includes:

• DSS – sodium document with a mitigating action. Thanks to him, dried crust softens, later they are easily removed from the auricle and the auditory passage, without damaging the epidermis;
• chlorosilinol (parachlormetaxilenol) – antiseptic and disinfectant, which has disinfectant and antiseptic properties;
• Salicylic acid is a good antiseptic, a substance that contributes to the purification of wounds and other skin damage from pus, accelerating healing;
• A monosaccharide complex with ant i-inflammatory effects.

Thanks to the action of these components in inflammatory processes in the hearing organ, inflammation decreases, and the microflora of the ear is normalized. The lotion has a calming effect on the skin, reduces itching, which accompanies otodectosis (ear scabies).

The epi-icon is used to treat the ears before using drugs (drops, ointments):

• with external otitis media;
• lesion with ear ticks;
• damage to the skin of the auricle.

The lotion can be used for healthy dogs during regular hygienic procedures.

Hearing organ diseases are a common problem, especially in dogs with hanging ears. The risk group includes spaniels, beagle, poodle, and also:

First of all, pathologies are associated with the physiological characteristics of the structure of the hearing organ. Any inflammation, hypothermia, other provoking factors can lead to the fact that the glands that are in the ear passage begin to produce much more sulfur than necessary. This leads to the fact that the excess sulfur accumulates and, if they do not remove them, begin to irritate the auditory passage. This provokes the active reproduction of pathogenic microflora, which without treatment can lead to dangerous complications and even death if the infection affects the interior of the hearing organ.

Thanks to the anti-inflammatory, antiseptic properties, the epi-otik lotion is used:

• with external otitis media;
• parasitic invasion – damage to one or both ears with a microscopic tick.

Otodectosis is a disease characterized by severe itching. Combing the ears to the blood, the dog provokes the penetration into the wounds and microcracks of pathogens of infectious diseases. In addition, microscopic parasites cause inflammation of the ear canal. Moving along it, they damage and irritate the delicate skin, this causes an increase in the production of sulfur and the reproduction of bacteria and fungi. With the development of the inflammatory process, you can notice discharge from the ear – first serous, then purulent. The exudate has a specific unpleasant odor, it dries up in the auricle – in the form of dark brown crusts, scabs. They impede the outflow of secretions from the ear canal, further increasing inflammation. Epi-otic lotion is prescribed in the treatment of otodectosis to prepare the ear for the use of the drug – drops against ectoparasites are usually prescribed, which have bactericidal, anti-inflammatory properties.

Hygiene of the organ of hearing is required not only in cases of infection with ear scabies or the development of inflammatory processes. From early childhood, a puppy (especially if he is at risk for developing ENT diseases) is recommended to be taught to clean his ears. Doing this daily is not worth it – sulfur and sebum are needed to protect the ear canals from howling and other negative factors. In the presence of redness, swelling in the ears, it is recommended to show the dog to the veterinarian.

Application

Hygiene procedures should be carried out for dogs no more than once a week, long-haired animals and pets with hanging ears should be given more attention: examine the ears twice a week, in the presence of a large accumulation of sulfur and sebum – clean with Epi-otic lotion using cotton swabs.

Cotton swabs should not be used to clean the ears of dogs, as the cotton can slip off and remain in the ear canal.

To carry out the usual hygiene procedure, it is enough to moisten a cotton swab with lotion and gently remove dirt from the ears. If scabs, dried crusts are observed in them, they must first be soaked using a lotion in the form of a spray. After dropping the solution into each ear, you need to carefully fold the auricle in half and gently massage it. Then use a cotton pad, swab or damp cloth to remove the contents. If necessary, repeat the procedure, then wipe the auricle dry.

In the treatment of otitis media, the procedure should be carried out before each use of the drug, with otodectosis – 2-3 times a day. Only after thoroughly cleaning the auricles, you can proceed to medical procedures container – apply ointment or use drops.
